Public testimony is set for later this week, with senators hoping to hear from Gov. Sean Parnell's administration as well.

this would be such a good time to revise state and federal spending and our overall bureaucracy, but too many folks benefit from turning a blind eye. And the little guys are paying the bill.

Separate them, then tax the heck out of both of them. Another government boondoggle.

I do not know why they want Public testimony, since they never listen to the public. They only listen to their biggest financial supports and lobbyists who give them other benefits.

The Gov is a rookie at screwing the consumer after the oil producers and refining cartels.

If holding oil was taxed at a higher rate than refined gas, then refineries wouldn't hold on to crude because it would be more expensive... thus more gas, lower price

Looks like the good news here is that Alaska may be getting a major natural gas pipeline to offset the reduced amount of oil being sent down the trans-Alaska pipeline.

The way I read the article this is NOT a tax increase, they are separating the way oil is taxed from the way gas is taxed and it might actually be reducing the tax on gas companies.

It makes since for the state to want to make up for lost revenue on the oil pipeline. The people who live in Alaska or who own property there will benefit from the revenue sharing the state has.

Business' don't pay taxes, customers pay taxes. Business taxes, fees, .... are a cost of doing business. These cost are part of price for services and goods that a business sells. It was a cost in our family business'.

Alaska taxes gas and oil production not refining. This increases the cost of gas and oil and we pay the tax but do not live in Alaska and get no benefit from the tax.

Alaska needs heating fuel. Taxing it, just raises costs to families and workers, hence, more demands for higher wages.
