Public testimony is set for later this week, with senators hoping to hear from Gov. Sean Parnell's administration as well.

I wish we'd go back to appointing senators instead of voting for them
they need to represent their state and not worry about re-election.

Sounds like having two taxes will increase state revenues and increase the cost of production and raise prices at the pump.

Senate panel needs to consider NOT taxing gas and oil. It would be a huge stimulus to jobs and the economy.

Speculation was illegal in the thirteen colonies as it was everywhere under British rule - this was one of the reasons the War of Independence was prosecuted. A free man in this country has the right to use his property to his advantage. Speculation is nothing more or less than a financial action that does not promise safety of the initial investment along with the return on the principal sum and profit is a payment for risk. God bless the U.S.A.!

When I was young there were many dirt and gravel roads. I don't think every road should be paved.

Alaska needs heating fuel. Taxing it, just raises costs to families and workers, hence, more demands for higher wages.

Quote: It taxes oil and gas together, with gas calculations based on its energy value relative to oil.
